FT’s Clayton Vila, Cam Riley & Sean Jordan star in the new documentary from TGR, “For Lack of Better” which premiere this Friday in Montreal at IF3. Find out more HERE >>
Filmmaker Clayton Vila documents his and his closest friend’s addiction to street skiing. For reasons of personal satisfaction and career progression, these rare athletes are obsessed with creating the best possible video parts every year. This film follows the rugged and passion-filled lives of street skiers throughout a winter as they battle for their next best video part.
Clayton Vila is set to release his own solo project this Fall and we cannot be more excited. FIVE, as the work is titled, will be Vila’s first release as principal director, self edits such as The Creep not withstanding. Details about its contents are few & far between which has only fueled the hype.
As a lead-in to the film, Vila had released a documentary earlier this Summer called A Career Reflection which seeks to show a true reflection of Vila as a former competitor turned urban ski scene phenom.
The crew from Stept Productions is wild. They are a group of intensely dedicated urban skiers who happen to be as talented behind the lens as they are on front of it. After winning the amateur movie category in the 2010 iF3 awards, Stept was bumped into the big leagues where they have won back-to-back titles in the “Best Jib Flick” category of the pro awards. Cam Riley, one of the wildest skiers to watch in an urban environment, is directing their next film: Mutiny. The guys just released the trailer, look for an early release this summer.
Adding to the traditional AK heli-skiing madness, Cam Riley and Clayton Vila have brought urban riding to the mix. Here’s a sneak peak of their adventures and pitfalls filming for Teton Gravity Research. Stay tuned for “The Dream Factory” dropping this September!
